  • Next up is the Fanfiction Contest!  The 2013 Fan Fiction Contest is now open for entries! Send your fan fic under 3000 words set in any established universe to our judges by January 1, and you might hear it read at Kawa Kon (and win a prize).  Rules and entry form here.
  • Next is the Frackfic Contest!  Rejected and Vengeful Authors, this is the contest for you!  Suggest the stories that should never be told, and (mercifully) haven’t been!
Demolish your favorite universe! Write a single sentence fic of 300 words or less that could make the worst fic you’ve ever read look like a masterpiece. Rules and entry form here.
  • Next up: The Mario Paint Film Festival!

With this year’s “Old School” track, we’re excited to announce the Mario Paint Film Festival! Submit your cinematic masterpieces made using the classic Super NES game Mario Paint.

Here are some basic guidelines to get you started:

1. Entries should be no longer than 2 minutes in total running time and be of a tasteful nature.

2. All graphics and audio must be generated using Mario Paint. However, you can use external editing programs (i.e. Windows Movie Maker, Final Cut, etc.) to piece the video together.

3. Entries can be constructed by using either the original SNES Mario Paint cartridge or an emulator (including Mario Paint Composer).

4. All entries should be submitted on a data disc (.AVI or .MPEG formats) and need to be mailed/post-marked no later than January 8, 2013 to be accepted.
